Onision, a prominent Youtuber, has been put back on the guest speakers list for Vidcon. Those who follow my tumblr will know that I am most emphatically not a fan of him. He’s done several unbelievably awful things that make him irrevocably unacceptable as a Vidcon guest. Among these things are:

• Driving to other states to have sex with an underage girl “legally”
• Started smear campaign against his ex-wife, who in no way provoked it
• Started a smear campaign against his ex-girlfriend, who has completely moved on 
• Encouraged his subscribers to harass both of these woman, which has resulted in one getting told she deserved to be raped
• Devoted several videos to detailed sexual subjects, claiming it wasn’t his responsibility to protect or cater to his younger viewers
• Claimed that a person who has had 20 or more sexual partners was incapable of being raped, then denied he said this. 

Now, I’m not passionately involved with these goings-on, but I was thrilled when I heard he wasn’t going to be at Vidcon, because he is the antithesis of everything the Vlogbrothers stand for. He’s back on the list, though, for some reason, and gloating about it. Hank, John, Nerdfighteria, and everybody else who cares, please, don’t let this glib sociopath into one of the greatest annual events in the USA.

While this has not been confirmed to be true, if it is, please e-mail info@vidcon.com and tell them how you feel about it. Or tweet/facebook your feelings to the people who run it. Maybe more public pressure is what is needed to keep him off the speakers list

We have a very obvious example of one of Onision’s fans being fueled by his public outcry against his ex wife and his dismissal of rape victims to tell his ex wife that she should get raped over COLLECTING ALIMONY! If that isn’t enough to step back and say, wait a minute, maybe his bullying and spreading of hateful opinions really is dangerous, I don’t know what it’s going to take. I really don’t want to see it taken farther, but a lot of people in this society would rather wait until something horrible and irreversible happens to act instead of preventing it in the first place.

If you’d like to refer back to the comment in your letters and stuff, here it is:

The comment has since been deleted, for obvious reasons, but if anyone screen capped please send it to me. The fan also then said that they didn’t take back what they said, kinda similar to how Onision won’t take responsibility for how he acts and suffers no consequences for it, so of course his fans aren’t going to learn through him that hateful actions lead to consequences.

Please guys, keep reblogging the call to action, signing the petition, reporting his accounts to adsense (especially now that we have an obvious example of how his bullying has effected his ex), and telling the people at Vidcon that you mean it when you say you do not want him there!
